On permutation symmetry of subradiant states and its application We dedicate this paper to Wolfgang Schleich on the occasion of his 60th birthday. He is a world expert on two 'strange' theories-quantum and relativistic-that emerged in the last century and became two summits in contemporary physics. He has taught us a great deal, from quantum optics in phase space to cold atoms in real space, and it is our great pleasure to be his students
