Summary:An efficient, concise, and transition metal-free synthesis of functionalized sulfonylated five-membered heterocyclic compounds via an SNAr reaction has been developed. Using commercially available sodium sulfinates as sulfonylation reagents, various five-membered heterocyclic sulfones were obtained in good yields.
