Description
Summary:La2/3Sr1/3MnO3 (LSMO)/Ca3Co2O6 bilayers have been grown by pulsed laser deposition, and their structural and magnetic properties have been investigated with an emphasis on the interface exchange interaction. It is found that both Ca3Co2O6 and LSMO layers are textured and continuous, with a homogeneous thickness and with a sharp interface. The magnetic measurements indicate an antiferromagnetic interchain coupling with an ordering temperature of T 1 = 22 K and a transition to a frozen spin state at T 2 = 10 K, similar to those observed in bulk Ca3Co2O6. The Curie temperature of LSMO is about 325 K. The temperature dependent minor magnetization loops point to the existence of a ferromagnetic interaction at low temperature between the LSMO and the Ca3Co2O6 layers. This suggests a good preservation of the magnetic properties of LSMO and Ca3Co2O6 at the LSMO/Ca3Co2O6 interface with possible issues in the study of the electronic properties of Ca3Co2O6.
