Description
Summary:During 2002, in ornamental nurseries in Corrientes (27°31' S lat., 55°60' W long.), Argentina, plants of Philodendron scandens subsp. oxycardium , affected by leaf spots were observed. Macroscopic and microscopic examinations, and isolation of the fungus associated with the symptoms were performed. Based on culture studies , morphometric characteristics and the pathogenicity tests, the fungal agent was identified as Phytophthora capsici Leonian. This is the first report of P. capsici affecting plants of P. scandens subsp. oxycardium in Argentina. Sur, 55°60' long.
