Description
Summary:The present study systematically reviews the existing research on virtual skill acquisition, remote working tools, and employee engagement and retention on blockchain-based metaverse platforms. Our findings indicate that remote sensing tools and metaverse technologies configure engaging virtual training, operational workflows, and immersive work environments. We contribute to the literature by clarifying that digital avatars as remote workforce leverage voice and gesture recognition technologies, simulation modeling algorithms, and data management tools across networked-extended immersive virtual environments. Throughout February 2022, a quantitative literature review of the Web of Science, Scopus, and ProQuest databases was performed, with search terms including “metaverse” + “virtual skill acquisition,” “remote working tools,” and “employee engagement and retention.” As research published in 2022 was inspected, only 79 articles satisfied the eligibility criteria. By taking out controversial or ambiguous findings (insufficient/irrelevant data), outcomes unsubstantiated by replication, too general material, or studies with nearly identical titles, we selected 12 mainly empirical sources. Data visualization tools: Dimensions (bibliometric mapping) and VOSviewer (layout algorithms). Reporting quality assessment tool: PRISMA. Methodological quality assessment tools include: AMSTAR, Dedoose, Distiller SR, and SRDR.
