Description
Summary:The research aims to determine the role of swimming exercise in the increase and development of educational values and the evaluation of habits and traditions in terms of healthy nutrition and exercise addiction. The population of the study was individuals who regularly practiced swimming exercise in Ankara province of Turkey and Kirkuk province of Iraq, and the sample was a total of 300 people, 140 people in Ankara and 160 people in Kirkuk, who regularly practiced swimming exercise. Personal Information Form, Attitudes Toward Healthy Eating Scale (ATHS) and Exercise Dependence Scale (EDS) were used. Statistical analyses were performed with SPSS 22 program. Independent sample t-test and Mann Whitney-U test were used for pairwise comparisons, and one-way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for comparisons of more than two groups. Differences between groups were tested with Tukey post-hoc test. Pearson Correlation was used to determine a significant relationship between the sample group's attitudes towards healthy nutrition and exercise addiction. As a result, it was determined that swimming exercisers had a high level of attitude towards healthy nutrition and were in the risky group in exercise addiction. In addition, no significant relationship was found between socio-demographic variables and the mean scores of ATHS and EDS, but a relationship was found between the variables of city of residence, marital status, educational status, exercise frequency and mean scores of ATHS.
