Description
Summary:Empowering persons with neuro-locomotor disabilities through eLearning is a current challenge. In this paper it is proposed an eye tracking mouse (ETM) system using video glasses and a robust eye tracking algorithm for human computer interaction (HCI) allowing disabled students to access eLearning platforms. The eye movement is detected by a head mounted device and consequently the mouse cursor is moved on the screen. In this way, a person can browse a graphical user interface and select an image or a word, using only his eyes. A click event denoting a pictogram or sign selection is performed if the person gazes a certain time the corresponding image on the screen. Although the ETM was proved to be a stable and reliable input device, it could be used to access eLearning environment only if the user interface and the courses contents are properly designed.
