Description
Summary:Humans are complex, emotion-driven beings. The communication process is 7% verbal, 38% para-verbal and 55% non-verbal. Therefore, being able to interpret body language and facial expressions is a key aspect in communicating efficiently. Each emotion is instantly reflected on our faces through micro expressions, which are very short changes mainly on the eyes, lips, nose, chin, eyebrows, and forehead lines. This paper presents an ontology based training tool for facial expressions detection and interpretation. The application is based on an ontological representation of human emotions and micro expressions and it can be integrated into e-learning systems in order to develop the users’ ability to recognize and interpret micro expressions. Emotion recognition training will lead to improved results in deception detection and has direct impact in fraud detection and security, forensics, psychology, as well as organizational and interpersonal communication processes.
