Description
Summary:This study investigates the effect of export earnings, which is an important indicator of sustainable economic growth, on economic growth within the scope of convergence hypothesis. Convergence analysis determines whether positive climate of growth occurring in relatively backward countries or regions facilitates the catching-up of economically advanced countries or regions, and this situation is defined as absolute convergence. On the other hand, detection and testing of factors that may affect convergence in absolute terms is defined as conditional convergence. Thus, there are also arguments against the view that exports, which is accepted as one of the positive climates that play an important role in convergence, is the engine of growth, particularly citing the negative affects brought about by exports in primary (raw, unprocessed) goods. In this respect, whether exports have contributed to growth trend occurred in Turkey especially after 2000 and whether the same situation exists for TRA (Erzurum, Erzincan, Bayburt, Ağrı, Kars, Iğdır, Ardahan) Region in particular were subjected in this study. The research was carried out for the period 2000-2014 .
