Summary:The aim of the paper is to analyse the relative dimension of organisation’s capacity to absorb external knowledge, including the status and perspectives of research in the field. The systematic literature review methodology is applied to achieve the aforementioned aim of the paper. The scope of the review encompasses scientific publications related to the issues of absorptive capacity and relative absorptive capacity. First of all, the paper discusses the concept of absorptive capacity and its reconceptualizations. Secondly, it presents the key assumptions of the concept of relative absorptive capacity. Thirdly, key research avenues in the field of relative absorptive capacity are identified and suggestions for further research are provided.
