Summary:In this study, Halil Fikret Kanad, who laid the foundation of the idea of village institutes, focused on the sections of his life, his contributions to educational sciences, the contributions he made to village institutes and the ways in which he could benefit from education views today. Kanad, has received the title of Turkey's first training doctors. The purpose of this study is to examine the views of Halil Fikret Kanad, the father of village institutes, on life and education. In this study, a qualitative research model, case study, was used. Kanad's educational philosophy is based on moral education and character education in childhood. Education prioritizes education. He has given priority to being an individual who has social, ethical and proper character in every aspect of the society. For this purpose he has made important studies in the field of pedagogy. He is the person who brings the concepts of business school, village institutes, ethics education and character education to the Turkish education system. Village institutes are important educational institutions not only for educating teachers but also for developing villages and peasants. However, due to political reasons, the village institutes were closed shortly after they opened.
