Summary:Stagnant blood refers to the pathogenic result resulting from out-of-order blood circulation and subsequent blood coagulation, including the blood retaining inside the body and the blood escaping from the blood vessels. There are abundant statements regarding the stagnant blood in the past dynasties, which was first mentioned in Neijing (《内经》). Blood stasis is extensively seen in many diseases, such as coronary heart disease, angina pectoris, stroke and epilepsy, and has been calling broad attention in TCM field.
