Summary: | Nacreous Glass Composites
In article number 2305008, Allen Ehrlicher and co‐workers develop a nacre‐like glass composite, achieving a rare combination of high strength, fracture toughness, optical transparency, and fabrication scalability. A compact structure (∼75% glass mass fraction) reminiscent of the natural nacre's microstructure is achieved using a mechanical wave‐based technique. The silane coverage on glass flakes is fine‐tuned to significantly improve structural compactness and drastically enhance optical clarity by reducing haze. |
