Summary: | Non‐invasive alignment and rotation of liquid‐crystalline suspensions of vanadium pentoxide ribbons by a magnetic field is reported. The ribbons align as shown in the Figure if the magnetic field, initially applied along the capillary main axis, is perpendicular to the main axis but still in the plane of the figure. It is believed that this simple idea could be applied to any nematic suspension of mineral compounds. |
