Description
Summary:Potassium acyltrifluoroborates (KATs) are difficult to synthesize, as represented by the figures struggling to climb the mountain. In their Communication on page 7299 ff., H. Ito and co‐workers present a two‐step KAT synthesis from aldehydes through sequential copper(I)‐catalyzed borylation and oxidation, which is much easier and faster than conventional methods. This atom‐economical method is like a cable car that provides easy access to the KAT peak via an intermediate peak (α‐hydroxy trifluoroborates).
