On Zhurkov's approach to the strength of solids
Two modifications to the Zhurkov kinetic concept of static (creep) rupture is discussed: (a) solids where the common pole τ0 is much larger than that associated with a vibrational frequency of bonded atoms in the solid and (b) materials where a common pole does not occur. Both cases are discussed wi...

Summary: | Two modifications to the Zhurkov kinetic concept of static (creep) rupture is discussed: (a) solids where the common pole τ0 is much larger than that associated with a vibrational frequency of bonded atoms in the solid and (b) materials where a common pole does not occur. Both cases are discussed within the Zhurkov framework. The activation thermodynamics and the association with transition state theory are revealed. |
