description This is a report of a study of intradermal hypersensitivity to normal leukocytes in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Positive reactions, characterized by induration, edema, and erythema, developed in 15 of 17 SLE patients. This reaction was maximum at 24 hours postinjection. Similar phenomena were rarely observed in control patients. Histological studies of the reaction site revealed evidence of both Arthus and delayed type hypersensitivity.
