Description
Summary:The acoustic dispersion of rock is investigated with experimental method. Samples of sandstone and shale are measured by different signal frequencies with ultrasonic‐pulse penetration method and the acoustic dispersion is analyzed. The results show that the dispersion exists in dry and obviously in water‐saturated sandstone, fluid in the pores has important impact on the acoustic dispersion. The velocities at different frequencies are calculated by the dispersion equation and compared with the measured value, the results imply that the dispersion in sandstone and shale is in good agreement with the dispersion equation.
