Summary: | The human enzyme myeloperoxidase, found majorly in the blood secreted by the immune cells (neutrophils), is capable of degrading the carbon nano‐onions (CNOs) or multilayer fullerenes. The biodegradation of CNOs mainly occurs through generating radical intermediates of peroxidase and by reacting with in‐situ generated hydroxy radicals under UV‐light catalyzed photo‐Fenton reaction.
