Summary: | This paper considers the performance of traffic capacity and handover frequency in a DS/CDMA system under imperfect handover. the effect experienced when the number of base stations observed by the personal station is restricted is estimated. Furthermore, the effect of handover hysteresis also is considered. Simulation models are presented which can evaluate the traffic capacity and the handover frequency under these imperfections. System performance is evaluated by computer simulations using these models.
It is found that if the number of observed base stations is 3 and the standard deviation of short‐distance medium value variance is 6 dB, the reverse‐link traffic capacity is reduced to about 90 percent and the forward‐link traffic capacity is reduced to about 85 percent, while the handover frequency is about 90 percent of the frequency of the short‐distance medium value variance.
It is found also that if the handover hysteresis is 4 dB and is 6 dB, the reverse‐link traffic capacity is reduced by about 10 percent while the handover frequency is about 60 percent of the frequency of the shortdistance medium value variance. |
