Summary: | We suggest the term, ‘anorexie à deux’, for the pathological relationship that exists between the anorexic child and her anorexic mother. Reference to the family structure and eating pathology and difficulties in treatment are illustrated by eight case histories. Anorexie à deux presents a treatment and management challenge for the future, particularly now that the ‘Twiggy’ generation have grown up to become the mothers of today's adolescents. |
