Summary:The volatile constituents from fresh aerial parts of Ailanthus excelsa were analysed by GC and GC–MS. Fatty acids and their esters represented the main fraction (40.9%) of the obtained oil, with 9,12,15‐octadecatrienoic acid methyl ester (linolenic acid) being the main component (13.7%).
