Synthesis of Phenanthridines by Flash Vacuum Pyrolysis of N-benzylideneanilines

SS‐FVP of N‐benzylidene‐4‐methoxyaniline (3b) and FVP of N‐benzylidene‐2‐chloroaniline (3c)at 850–950 °C yielded phenanthridine (2) and its derivatives through gas phase electroncyclization.
