Summary:The synthesis and pharmacological screening of some N, N'-disubstituted piperazino-norpethidines is described. Certain members were prepared by N-alkylating nor-pethidine, while other analogs were made by condensing an appropriate N-mono-substituted piperazine with N-(2-chloroethyl)-norpethidine. Two compounds possessed significant analgesic activity although of a lower order than pethidine.
