Summary:High molecular weight polybenzimidazoles and polybenzoxazoles having cyclohexane, cyclopropane, and spiro [3:3]heptane rings in the main chain were prepared by solution polycondensation of 3,3′‐diaminobenzidine tetrahydrochloride dihydrate, or 3,3′ ‐dihydroxybenzidine dihydrochloride with the corresponding dicarboxylic acids in polyphosphoric acid. Their preparation and physical properties, such as thermal stability, solubility, and crystallinity are described. Hochmolekulare Polybenzimidazole und Polybenzoxazole mit Cyclohexan‐, Cyclopropan‐ und Spiro(3,3)heptanringen in der Hauptkette werden durch Polykondensation von 3,3′‐Diaminobenzidin‐tetrahydrochloriddihydrat oder 3,3′‐Dihydroxybenzidin‐dihydrochlorid mit der entsprechenden Dicarbonsäure in Polyphosphorsäure als Lösungsmittel hergestellt. Ihre Darstellung und die physikalischen Eigenschaften wie z. B. die thermische Stabilität, die Löslichkeit und die Kristallinität werden beschrieben.
