Study of the mechanism of propagation and transfer reactions in the polymerization of olefins by Ziegler-Natta catalysts, 3. Determination of the rate constants of chain transfer with an organo-alumimium cocatalyst

By quenching polymerization with tritium‐labelled methanol the total number of the metal‐polymer bonds in the polymerization of ethylene and propylene by Ziegler‐Natta catalysts was determined. Using the propagation rate constants determined by quenching polymerization with 14CO the rate constants o...

Description
Summary:By quenching polymerization with tritium‐labelled methanol the total number of the metal‐polymer bonds in the polymerization of ethylene and propylene by Ziegler‐Natta catalysts was determined. Using the propagation rate constants determined by quenching polymerization with 14CO the rate constants of chain transfer with AlEt3 and Al(i‐Bu)3 and the activation energy of chain transfer with AlEt3 were calculated.
