Molecular weight dependence of interaction parameter and demixing concentration in polymer-polymer-good solvent systems. comparison with theory

Description
Summary:The dependence of the interaction parameter χAB between two unlike polymers A and B and of their demixing concentration cK on their molecular weight is investigated. The experiments were performed by means of light scattering (spinodal and “optical theta” conditions) on two polymer pairs: polydimethylsiloxane‐polystyrene and polydimethylsiloxane‐poly(methyl methacrylate) in various thermodynamically good solvents. The results are in agreement with the predictions of new scaling laws (χAB ∼ M−0,46 and cK ∼ M−0,63) derived from renormalization group calculations.
