Summary: | This paper reports the variation in electrical conduction of thermally treated nylon‐6 films. The conductivity measurements were performed in vacuum over the temperature range from room temperature to 80°C. The samples of the nylon‐6 films varying in form and degree of crystallinity were prepared by heat‐setting nylon‐6 films in nitrogen atmosphere at different temperatures for one hour. The results of the variation of conductivity with temperature and the current‐voltage characteristics are used to analyze the mechanism of electrical conduction in nylon‐6 as well as for the calculations of the activation energy of electrical conduction. A change in the structure of nylon‐6 was found to affect both the mechanism of electrical conduction and the activation energy. |
