A design for circularly polarized ring slot antennas backed by thin grounded substrate

This article presents a design for circularly polarized ring slot antennas backed by a metal plate with a small separated distance. The antenna is excited through a shorted L‐shaped coupling strip, and good circular polarization performance can be obtained as long as the vertical arm of the L‐shaped...

description This article presents a design for circularly polarized ring slot antennas backed by a metal plate with a small separated distance. The antenna is excited through a shorted L‐shaped coupling strip, and good circular polarization performance can be obtained as long as the vertical arm of the L‐shaped coupling strip is properly stretched. Both simulated and measured results demonstrate that the reflector‐backed slot antenna gives an opposite polarization sense to its counterpart without the reflector. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
