Summary: | In this Letter, a new antipodal linearly tapered slot antenna (ALTSA) with unequal half‐circular slots (UHCS) embedded on both edge‐sides is proposed to improve an antenna gain. The proposed antenna operates over the frequency band from 3.1 GHz to more than 10.6 GHz, which is assigned to Ultra‐Wideband wireless communications. The proposed antenna has been improved in a gain and reduced to backward radiation due to the unequal half‐circular slots on the ALTSA. The measured antenna gains are improved by up to 3.5 dB. The side lobe levels are lowered by about −14.8 and −7.2 dB in the E‐ and H‐planes at 7 GHz, respectively. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
