description Hyperelastic adhesive joints are used successfully in many areas of industry. Besides all their inherent advantages, materials used for the construction of such bonds show a vast variety of non‐linear effects in their response to mechanical loading, which poses a challenge in modelling and predicting their material response. Recent experiments have shown a strong temporal response when it comes to damage and failure within these materials. This contribution aims to propose a simple but yet flexible formulation to predict time‐dependent damage effects within polymeric adhesives. Besides the main aspects of the thermodynamically consistent development, we also show numerical examples to demonstrate the capabilities of the model.
