Various benzyl ethers were transformed to the desired products in low to high yields, and the overoxidation to benzoic acids hardly ever occurred. The present condition could tolerate the presence of many functional groups such as methyl, fluoro, bromo, nitro, ester and the highly reactive formyl groups.
