Asymmetric Catalysis. 151 [1] Wilkinson-type [Rh(diop)(PPh3)Hal] Catalysts in the Enantioselective Hydrogenation of Ketopantolactone

Description
Summary:The Wilkinson‐type catalysts [Rh(diop)(PPh3)Cl] and [Rh(diop)(PPh3)I] have been synthesised and characterised by X‐ray structure analysis. In the crystal the distorted square planar compounds form pairs of diastereomers. The compounds were tested as catalysts in the enantioselective hydrogenation of ketopantolactone. With 65 % ee the iodo complex achieved a higher enantioselectivity than the chloro complex (55 % ee). Asymmetric Catalysis.
