Summary:A new method of preparation of golden‐yellow, microcrystalline, and air‐sensitive single‐phase cerium(III) oxide, Ce 2 O 3 , from CeO 2 and Ce was developed. Solid solutions (Ce 1– x La x )O 2–0.5 x (0 < x < 0.55) in the system CeO 2 ‐La 2 O 3 and (Ce 1– x La x ) 2 O 3 (0 < x < 1) in the system Ce 2 O 3 ‐La 2 O 3 were synthesized and investigated by means of X‐ray powder diffraction.
