Lymph node visualisation: an unusual artefact in the 99mTc-pyrophosphate bone scan

Extraskeletal uptake of tracer, presumably in the lymph nodes, is an uncommon finding in bone scans. It has been seen only when there is extravasation of tracer at the injection site. The phenomenon appears to be the result of colloid formation.
