Possible in vivo formation of a carcinogenic substance from diethyl pyrocarbonate and ammonia

Development of lung tumors can be observed in Kid: CFLP mice treated intragastrically with diethyl pyrocarbonate and ammonia. The lung tumors may result from a carcinogenic substance, supposedly urethane, formed in vivo from diethyl pyrocarbonate in the presence of ammonia.
