Description
Summary:Previously abstracted from original as item 9204-31-1401. Application of constant magnetic field of 550 kA/m to low alloy cast iron and its effect on microstructure and hardness changes is investigated. The treatment of cast iron in magnetic field of 120-480 kA/m increases the amount of pearlite from 85-92% to 100% (under all conditions). The most effective treatment for cast iron strength increase is the magnetic treatment from the crystallization temperature to 600 deg C. The magnetic field strength changes from 240 to 480 kA/m. This treatment increases Brinell hardness considerably.
