Description
Summary:See adjacent abstract. Results of the examination of the microstructure and strength properties of the polycrystalline materials based on AlN make it possible to draw the following conclusions. The aluminum nitride can be used as a basis for producing an entire group of self-reinforced materials by adding to the initial powders various additions, such as titanium nitride, TiC, TiO sub 2 , MoSi sub 2 , BN. The developement of the process of self-organization is caused by the occurrence in AlN of the intragranular crystal-oriented transition "2H - > multilayer polytypes", caused by isomorphous phase separation of the solid solutions 2H AlN. The crystal morphological special features of the polytype transformation in AlN, which determine both the effect of grain reinforcement and formation of the plate-shaped grains, are determined by the controlling effect of the basic stacking faults in phase separation of the solid solutions.
