Tribological properties of ceramic materials based on nonmetallic nitrides. II. Effect of oxide films on the process of friction in the system ceramic material-steel

Description
Summary:Previously abstracted from original as item 9108-31-3309. Oxide films have been studied for their effect on friction and wear of the cermet--steel pair. (Preliminarily oxidized Al--N and AlN--Si sub 3 N sub 4 specimens were tested in pair with steel 45 at 200-1200 deg C). With an increase of the oxidation temperature, i.e. with formation of oxide films, strongly adherent to the basic material, the friction and wear coefficient falls. Oxide films possessing slight adhesion to the material do not favour improvement of tribological properties of cermets. Structure and phase composition of the friction surface of cermets and counterbody are studied. Graphs.
