Mechanism of low-temperature synthesis of tungsten carbide and WC-Co mixtures in a methane-hydrogen atmosphere
The influence of particle size of the initial W and W/Co powders upon particle size of the carburized tungsten carbide was studied. Carburization was carried out at 900 deg C using a hydrogen-methane mixture with the gas ratio employed to regulate stoichiometry of the carbide powders. Under the carb...

Summary: | The influence of particle size of the initial W and W/Co powders upon particle size of the carburized tungsten carbide was studied. Carburization was carried out at 900 deg C using a hydrogen-methane mixture with the gas ratio employed to regulate stoichiometry of the carbide powders. Under the carburizing conditions employed, initial and final particle size was virtually unchanged. Details of the processing and results are discussed thoroughly. |
