Tuning magnetic properties in the Ce–Al Co-substituted M-type BaSr (6:4) hexaferrites

In this work, we have synthesized Ba 0.6 Sr 0.4 Fe 12−x−y Ce x Al y O 19 ( x  = 1, 0.00 ≤  y  ≤ 2.0) M-type hexaferrites by conventional solid state reaction technique. We have examined their structure, morphologies and magnetic behavior. XRD and scanning electron microscopy analysis confirmed the f...

Description
Summary:In this work, we have synthesized Ba 0.6 Sr 0.4 Fe 12−x−y Ce x Al y O 19 ( x  = 1, 0.00 ≤  y  ≤ 2.0) M-type hexaferrites by conventional solid state reaction technique. We have examined their structure, morphologies and magnetic behavior. XRD and scanning electron microscopy analysis confirmed the formation of pure hexaferrites and absence of any secondary phases. The saturation magnetization values show a continuous decrease, while coercivity increases upon incorporation of the dopants. Highest coercivity value of 6.51 kOe was achieved in the Ba 0.6 Sr 0.4 Fe 9.5 Ce 1 Al 1.5 O 19 which increases by 1.61 times and 1.41 times compared with that of BaSr hexaferrites and Ba hexaferrites, respectively.
