Tareciliosides N–S: further cycloartane saponins from the leaves of Tarenna gracilipes, and cytotoxicity of saponins and triterpenes
Six cycloartane glycosides, named tareciliosides N–S, and a known iridoid glucoside, ixoroside, were isolated in further extensive studies on the 1-BuOH-soluble fraction of a MeOH extract of the leaves of Tarenna gracilipes. From the EtOAc-soluble fraction, three known triterpenes were isolated. The...

Summary: | Six cycloartane glycosides, named tareciliosides N–S, and a known iridoid glucoside, ixoroside, were isolated in further extensive studies on the 1-BuOH-soluble fraction of a MeOH extract of the leaves of Tarenna gracilipes. From the EtOAc-soluble fraction, three known triterpenes were isolated. Their toxicities toward A549 and Leishmania major trypanosome protozoa were assayed. Triterpenes were selectively active in the two organisms. |
