Summary:Sommario The diffusion of hip arthroscopy may lead to an increased number of possible complications, related also to the surrounding of a diffuse vascular supply represented by the two femoral circumflex arteries and arteria femoralis profunda. These vascular structures may be injured accidentally during the intraarticular penetration of the instruments, but this complication is extremely infrequent and so far never reported in our experience. Vascular femoral head necrosis may theoretically occur, but a real possible damage of lesser arteries or veins may be masked by the thigh swelling often present after surgery. In order to prevent these complications it is important to learn hip arthroscopy in centres of proved experience, the only way to approach this difficult procedure.
