Summary: | Lactarius pleuromacrocystidiatus is proposed here as a new species in Lactarius subgen. Plinthogalus. It was collected from western Himalaya and is characterised by a radially rugose, yellowish-brown to light brown pileus and the presence of white latex which turns pale orange on the gills and yellow on the context, and the presence of pleuromacrocystidia (an uncommon feature in Lactarius subgen. Plinthogalus). A detailed morphological description and ITS-based phylogenetic trees are accompanied by illustrations and comparisons with allied species. |
