Summary:Summary Recent botanical exploration in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, island of Mindanao, resulted in the collection of two poorly known Philippine endemic Begonia species, Begonia affinis and B. oblongata . A review of literature and specimens demonstrated that these two species warrant lectotypification, which is accomplished below. In this paper, updated descriptions, photographs to aid easy identification, ecology and preliminary IUCN conservation assessments are provided for each species.
