Description
Summary:Summary The recently segregated genus Senega Spach, formerly called ‘Polygala New World clade’, resulted in 229 species names transferred from Polygala to Senega . The ongoing studies on Senega resulted in recognising five new species ( S. calcarata , S. carautana , S. cordeiroi , S. filiformis and S. longiflora ) from subgenus Senega which are here described, and their morphologies are discussed along with photographic plates, taxonomic and nomenclatural notes and distribution maps for all the new species. Finally, three new combinations, which were overlooked in the previous treatment of Senega , are here provided along with taxonomic notes.
