Summary:. In this article an alternative approach is presented to find the periodic points of the baker’s map and it’s properties, with the help of the symmetry line concept. The symmetry lines of the baker’s map are formed by straight lines in the square, made by different segments. Then by analyzing the general problem of transforming straight lines defined in the domain, we obtain: properties of the mapping, algorithms to compute the symmetry lines and the periodic points, and the study of other symmetries.
