Summary:Dorsal guard hair of the Cercopithecid mammals viz. Macaca fascicularis, M. nemestrina, M. silenus, M. radiata, M. mulatta, M. assamensis , and M. arctoides have been studied by the help of Light microscope. The characteristic features like transverse section, scale pattern and margin, scale margin distance, scale count, medullary configuration, medullary index, side to side cuticular scale length, and proximodistal cuticular scale length of hair provided key to identify concerned species correctly.
