Summary: | 15-5 PH stainless steel is one of the commonly used powders in laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process. In this study, both virgin and reused 15-5 PH powders were comparatively studied. The microstructure and elemental composition of the powders were examined. The results show that the chemical compositions of the virgin powder compared well that of literature data. In contrast, the reused powder has slightly larger particle size, rougher surfaces, and increased oxygen and nitrogen contents than the virgin one. This study is useful for determining the feasibility of powder reuse in PPBF process. |
