Description
Summary:This paper considers the stabilization of the vibrations of a flexible beam having heavy contact with a fluid. This study examines the suppressing vibrations of the flexible beam under heavy fluid loading by adopting piezoelectric sensors/actuators. The fluid (water) is assumed to have at least one free surface and one rigid surface in addition to the flexible beam line of contact, and the piezo-ceramics used to dissipate deteriorating vibrations are attached to the top and the bottom of the flexible beam. The water’s free surface in the abundance of the flexible boundary and rigid boundary makes the problem sophisticated. Our approach considers the original problem without any need of discretizing and maintains all of the infinite-dimensional traits of the problem unchanged. The significant contribution of this work is the vibrations deletion of the flexible structure and steering the coupled fluid motion to the rest state using the piezo-ceramic layers.
